Many years ago I earned degrees in both chemistry and classical guitar performance. While making a living as an environmental studies analytical chemist, I enjoyed performing and teaching on guitar as much as time would allow. My work in environmental chemistry paid the bills and helped make the world a little safer, and after work each day I enjoyed learning new music, performing and teaching my guitar students. It was a good balance!
I’m a lifelong learner, and after retiring from my chemistry career I attended UNCSA, earned a Master’s degree and a Performing Artist Certificate in guitar performance, and discovered that I really enjoy composing! My time at UNCSA was an incredible experience and I am thankful for the friends I made, what I learned from my teachers and fellow students, and the joy of collaborating with such talented musical artists to create beautiful and moving performances. My goal is to continue composing, performing, teaching and helping share the joy of music with others!
My new album entitled "Emergence" will be released soon. It's a collection of twelve of my own compositions consisting of a guitar quartet piece, guitar duo, guitar solo pieces and several small ensemble pieces scored for guitar, violin and clarinet or guitar fiddle and whistle.
